Former Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut was recently named as one of the inductees for the FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2025, joining the likes of Pau Gasol, Dawn Staley, and Mike Krzyzewski.
Bogut, who played in the NBA from 2006 to 2019 (including his first seven years with the Milwaukee Bucks), is recognized mainly for his contributions to the Australian men’s basketball program.
The one-time NBA champion led the Boomers to winning the 2003 FIBA U19 World Cup, and he played for the senior team in the 2006 and 2019 editions of the FIBA World Cup.
He competed for Australia in the 2004, 2008, and 2016 Olympics. Bogut is known for his elite rim protection, physical brand of play, and passing skills.
Andrew Bogut was one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ biggest what-ifs
The Milwaukee Bucks hit the jackpot when they took Andrew Bogut with the top overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. Bogut earned All-Rookie First Team honors in his first year, finishing third in the Rookie of the Year voting. He played all 82 regular season games, averaging 9.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest.
Andrew Bogut peaked during the 2009-10 season but suffered a gruesome arm injury that derailed his progress. Many believed he wasn’t the same since then, and in 2012, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Monta Ellis.
He won his only NBA championship with Golden State. After that, he suited up for the Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sydney Kings in the NBL, and one more time with the Golden State Warriors before calling it quits.
