The Milwaukee Brewers were recently listed as a top five World Series contender by FOX Sports analyst Eric Karros. They were given the fifth spot with the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves chosen above them. With the Brewers coming in fifth this means other teams such as the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, and others were left out.

Are the Milwaukee Brewers top five World Series contenders?
Eric Karros talked about the Brewers pitching staff as the primary reason why he picked them.
They got horses, Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta, and Brandon Woodruff. These guys (Burnes and Devin Williams) were the pitchers of the month in July and Peralta in August and Woodruff right now has a good chance at being pitcher of the month in September.

On air there was a counter to kick the Brewers out of the fifth spot and to put the Seattle Mariners in instead. Similarly their pitching staff was mentioned, the experience they earned in last years playoffs played a factor, and the fact that they have the best team ERA in the league (3.71).

In regards to team ERA, the Brewer are fourth best overall at 3.82. Additionally their top three starting pitchers all have post season experience. Essentially both teams have very dominant pitching staffs and it’s easy to see why that would play a major factor when choosing World Series favorites.
