The Milwaukee Brewers have been dominant all season. Under first year manager Pat Murphy they have spent 139 days in first place (as of August 19) and are in the race for the best record in all of baseball. That being said one MLB Insider says this year’s team has the ingredients in place for a World Series.
MLB Insider Robert Murray believes the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers have all the ingredients in place for a World Series.
On the MLB Insiders Podcast Robert Murray discussed how the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers have all the ingredients in place for a World Series. Murray acknowledged that starting pitching took a step back and has dealt with lots of injuries, but they have managed to hold it together. He also talked about the loss of Christian Yelich, but he listed their bullpen as a massive strength and credited Pat Murphy for putting players in position to succeed and for maximizing his roster.
Which players are the key ingredients for the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers?
The Brewers starting rotation is currently led by Colin Rea (3.52 ERA) and rookie Tobias Myers (2.81 ERA). Freddy Peralta (4.00 ERA) has had an up an down season, Frankie Montas has a 3.86 ERA through his first three starts with the team, and Aaron Civale has a 4.10 ERA across seven starts post trade.
In the bullpen Devin Williams is healthy after missing over half the season with stress fractures in his back and interim closer Trevor Megill is expected to be activated soon. Southpaws Bryan Hudson (1.65 ERA) Jared Koenig (2.09 ERA) have been dominant all season. Joel Payamps (3.55 ERA) and Bryse Wilson (4.20 ERA), and Elvis Peguero (3.00 ERA) are all good right-handed options.
Offensively Willy Adames has been the teams best run producer (85 RBI), but William Contreras (.819 OPS) is arguably their best hitter now that Christian Yelich is out. In Yelich’s absence Rhys Hoskins has stepped up and is one of the league’s best hitters in high leverage situations. Brice Turang is a threat to steal every time (37 stolen bases), Jackson Chourio has been one of the leagues best hitters since early June, and Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick, and Joey Ortiz are all daily contributors.
Robert Murray believes that the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen will only get stronger before seasons end.
Also mentioned by Robert Murray was his belief that top Brewers pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski will get promoted to the big leagues sooner rather than later. Misiorowski has been making appearances out of the bullpen over the past few weeks in Triple-A in preparation for his MLB debut. Murray indicated that adding Misiorowski into the mix will only make the Brewers bullpen better.
At this time frame there is an opportunity for several teams to finish with the best record in baseball. It’s nice to see Milwaukee getting some World Series hype instead of power house organizations like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
