Willy Adames and William Contreras each hit significant home run milestones against the Cincinnati Reds.
During Friday’s doubleheader against the Reds Willy Adames hit his 25th and 26th home runs and William Contreras his 19th and 20th. Adames not only hit another MLB leading three run home run, but he crossed the 25 home run threshold for the third time in his career. On the other hand Contreras tied his career best in home runs (20).
Only one of the pair of Milwaukee Brewers teammates have hit home runs in each game of a doubleheader.
The only other time that a pair of Milwaukee Brewers teammates have each hit home runs when a double header was played was in 1989. Mike Vassallo reported that Robin Yount and Rob Deer accomplished this on June 23, 1989 against the Chicago White Sox.
