Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames and New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker were caught jawing at each other during game one of the Wild Card Series. Things got heated between the two after Winker smashed a two RBI triple into the right field corner. Jomboy media did a great job of breaking down the play in its entirety as well as providing some lip reading as to what was possibly said.

Warning: In the video provided below there is explicit content. During Jomboy’s video breakdown he reveals that as Jesse Winker was running the bases he was shouting something. It is unclear as to if he was yelling in excitement, to his dugout, or at a specific person, but Willy Adames heard him, appeared to be slightly startled by it, and then countered back with words of his own.

Was there preexisting bad blood between Jesse Winker and the Milwaukee Brewers?
Jesse Winker spent the 2023 season with the Brewers and struggled mightily as he accumulated just six extra base hits all year (197 plate appearances). This year he re-surged with the Washington Nationals and was traded to the Mets at the deadline. When he returned to American Family Field for the final series of the regular season he did get some boos from fans, but was also hit in the buttock in which some believe there was intent behind that hit-by-pitch.
Jesse Winker declined to comment on what was said between him and Willy Adames, but Adames’ did provide some insight.
After the game Jesse Winker declined to tell reporters what was said between him and Willy Adames as he just wants to focus on the next game. On the other hand Adames said, ” I don’t know what was going through his head, but he just started saying some stuff. That was surprising that he was saying some stuff. I guess that’s part of his personality. It was just a little bit of a surprise to me, but we don’t back off.”
Game two between the Brewers and Mets will be on Wednesday, October 2. Frankie Montas will get the ball for Milwaukee and Sean Manaea for New York.
