The Milwaukee Brewers shutout the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. Colin Rea delivered seven strong shutout innings and Jakob Junis picked up a multi inning save out of the bullpen. The Brew Crew managed to win despite shortstop Willy Adames watching this game from the clubhouse as he was ejected during the fifth inning.
Willy Adames was ejected during the fifth inning of the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies game.
With the bases loaded and nobody out Willy Adames stepped into the batters box in the fifth inning hoping to blow a 2-0 game wide open. Unfortunately he was rung up on strikes on the fourth pitch of the at-bat. This marked his third strikeout of the game and on his way back to the dugout he was tossed by home plate umpire Mark Ripperger.

Why was Willy Adames upset enough over this strikeout to get ejected?
During the five innings that Willy Adames did play he was retired each at-bat via the strikeout. On two occasions, including the last at-bat, he went down looking. He did have some words with Mark Ripperger after his strikeout in the third inning in which per the strike tracker on TV that pitch appeared to be a ball. So even though Adames was clearly retired via a true strike in the fifth inning he did have some frustrations boiling over from his previous at-bat. Additionally he is currently in the middle of a 5-38 slump over his last nine games.
Willy Adames has only been ejected twice during his MLB career.
Last year Willy Adames was ejected for the first time in his career after a brutal sequence that involved a pair of pitch clock violations that led to an eventual strikeout. Adames was quite frustrated with umpire Adam Beck during that game. His ejection against the Colorado Rockies was not this heated and likely dealt with more of him being in a slump and being retired on strikes twice on a pair of borderline pitches.
