The Milwaukee Brewers are currently facing the real possibility of losing Willy Adames. A qualifying offer has been extended to Adames, but this is likely to be rejected in favor of signing a long term contract. Free agency has just begun, but already Adames reportedly has received offers from two other organizations.
Willy Adames indicated that he would be willing to stay in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform for less money
According to Will Sammon and Katie Woo at The Athletic, Willy Adames is willing to stay with the Brewers for less money. The catch is that Milwaukee’s offer would still have to reflect a price that is fair for what he has accomplished so far in his career. As mentioned the $21 million qualifying offer has been extended to Adames, but right now it is currently unknown if the Brewers have offered him a long term contract or not.
Two outside organizations have reportedly offered Willy Adames a contract
MLB Insider Mike Rodriguez has reported that the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers have contract offers on the table to Willy Adames. Rodriguez revealed that the Mets plans would be to keep Francisco Lindor at shortstop, have Adames play third base, and shift Mark Vientos to first base. New York’s contract reportedly is seven years in length and over $160 million.
According to my sources, the #Mets have made an offer of over $160 million for a period of 7 years to Willy Adames. Their intention is for him to play third base; however, Adames is not convinced, as he prefers to continue in the shortstop position. He has not made a decision… pic.twitter.com/HB4JbuUHnH
