The Milwaukee Brewers managed to score just a couple of runs in a tight 2-1 win in the series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
In the second game of the series on Saturday, the Brewers did not have a problem at all scoring runs, as they took down the D’backs, 15-8, with Willy Adames among Milwaukee’s top contributors.
Adames went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, and five RBIs.
“It’s been amazing,” Adames said about the season he is having with the Brewers, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). “It’s been a special year for me and the team.”
With 32 home runs (and counting) in the 2024 season, Adames has now set a new career-high record. His previous high was 31 blasts back in the 2022 MLB season when he also hit .238/.298/.458 and a 110 OPS+.
So far in the 2024 campaign, Adames, who just turned 29 years old earlier this September, is batting 253.334/.476 with a 122 OPS+. He is due to become a free agent in the coming offseason, so every great thing Adames does at the plate boosts his resume as he looks to strike a huge contract.
Milwaukee Brewers looking to sweep the Diamondbacks
The Brewers, who are on a three-game win streak, can sweep Arizona this Sunday when they start DL Hall on the mound. Hall has a 1-1 record with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks will get the ball to Zac Gallen, who owns a 12-6 record to go with a 3.55 ERA and 1.27 WHIP.
The Brewers are leading the National League Central division by 11 games with an 86-62 record.
