The Milwaukee Brewers have won their third game in a row and improved to 19-18 on the season with their 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. The win saw rookie right-handed starter Chad Patrick pitch into the seventh inning before being pulled following an Astros three-run home run. However, he was stellar for most of the night, finishing with 6.2 innings pitched, four hits, three runs, one walk, and six strikeouts.
Despite the home run, Patrick pitched well enough to get the win, improving to 2-3 on the season with a stellar 3.08 ERA.
Abner Uribe, Nick Mears, and Trevor Megill finished off the game for Milwaukee, each of them keeping Houston off the board.
Milwaukee Brewers Catcher William Contreras Is Dealing with a Finger Injury

Offensively, the Brewers were led by first baseman Rhys Hoskins, who launched a two-out, two-RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to give Milwaukee a 2-0 lead. The very next hitter, right fielder Jake Bauers, smashed a two-run home run to dead center field for a 4-0 lead.
It was the only offense the Brewers would need thanks to their impressive pitching.
William Contreras, the two-time Silver Slugger at catcher and an All-Star starter last season, was 0-3 with a walk and run scored. However, he also threw out a would-be base stealer, his 14th of the season (which is the most in the Majors).
After the game, manager Pat Murphy revealed that Contreras has been able to do all of his impressive defensive work despite the fact he probably has a fractured finger:
Pat Murphy says William Contreras is having an X-Ray on his finger. He’s had this issue for a bit now and has been playing through it.

“He’s dealing with a finger [injury] that we’re having x-rayed right now. Probably a fracture. He had it last year too.”
Murphy describes the area of the fracture as where the ball consistently makes contact with Contreras’ hand. He also explained that the injury is making it difficult for him to grab and hold a bat.
As the reigning NL Manager of the Year notes, Contreras had this same injury last year as well. He played in 155 games last season.
