The Milwaukee Brewers remain undefeated in their ongoing three-game series at home against the visiting Cleveland Guardians. After winning the series opener, 5-3-, on Saturday, the Brewers defeated the Guardians again on Saturday, 2-1.
The Brewers’ offense was not particularly in its top form on Sunday, but it was enough to get another W at the expense of the Guardians. William Contreras helped Milwaukee on that front with his solo home run that went 380 feet deep in the fourth inning.
Contreras has seemingly found his rhythm this month, especially over the last several days. In his last six outings, Contreras has hit .300/.391/.950 with four home runs and five RBIs. So far in the month of August, he is slashing .304/.391/.768 with six home runs and 14 RBIs to go with seven walks.
Via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN):
“I just feel really good at the plate right now,” Contreras said. “I’m feeling really comfortable and I’m not trying to do too much, just trying to do what I can to help the team.”
It will be interesting to see whether Contreras will be able to sustain his form this Sunday when the Brewers and the Guardians play the finale of their series. In any case, the Brewers would love to see players outside of Contreras make things happen at the plate.
The Brewers, who have won all their last four games, is sitting comfortably atop the standings in the National League Central with a 71-52 record — 10 games ahead of their rials in the division.
