The Milwaukee Brewers will begin a road trip this weekend against the Washington Nationals for a three-game series. Milwaukee leads the National League Central division with a 61-47 record and Washington has a 49-60 record and is in fourth place in the National League East division.

For this matchup, the projected starting pitchers will be Frankie Montas (4-8 record, 5.01 ERA) for the Brewers and Jake Irvin (8-8 record, 3.44 ERA) for the Nationals. Despite the records, this is a series that Milwaukee should not take lightly. Washington has a ton of good young talent.

Catcher William Contreas is projected to bat second for Milwaukee for manager Pat Murphy. He has played in 104 games and has a .281 batting average with 11 home runs and 57 RBIs, along with five stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. Contreas also has a .352 on-base percentage.

Frankie Montas will be making a start for the Brewers after he was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds at the MLB trade deadline. He has pitched in 93.1 innings and has given up 93 hits and 52 runs. Montas has walked 41 batters and has struck out 78 batters.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez has a lot of young talented players on his roster for the future. Despite Washington’s struggles this season, they could be very good in a year or two.

Shortstop C.J. Abrams is projected to bat leadoff for the Washington Nationals. He has played in 101 games and has a .256 batting average with 15 home runs and 52 RBIs, along with 20 stolen bases and 10 caught stealing attempts. Abrams has a .330 on-base percentage.
