Game 1 (Opening Day):
Opening day was rather disappointing for the Brewers. Corbin Burnes was named the opening-day starter but the former Cy Young struggled. He pitched five innings of four run ball, struck out just three batters, and left many pitches over the plate. A rough day for Corbin Burnes and the Brewers’ offense staying very quiet resulted in a 4-0 loss.
The positives to take away from this game came from the rookies. Rule 5 Pick Gus Varland made his Major League Debut and threw a scoreless frame and Brice Turang recorded his first Major League hit. All in all a pretty disappointing opening day for the Brewers
Game 2:
Game 2 went much better for the Brewers. Brandon Woodruff got the start and did not disappoint tossing six innings of one run ball while striking out eight batters. The 30-year-old right-hander is searching for his first Cy Young and this first outing will definitely help him out.

Aside from Brandon Woodruff pitching a gem, we finally saw the offense come to life. After being shut out the first 16 innings of the season the Brewers offense finally scratched some runs on the board. Bounceback candidate Jessie Winker kicked it off with a pinch-hit RBI single and then the newcomer William Contreras followed with a two-run single. Once again mentioning the rookies, Joey Wiemer recorded his first career hit. Overall a good day for the Brewers as they picked up their first win.
Game 3:
Game three was a great day for the Brewers. Eric Lauer got the start and pitched relatively well. After a shaky start, Lauer was able to dial it in and finished the day pitching 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs and striking out six batters.
The Brewers put on their hitting shoes today scoring nine runs. The sixth inning was what broke the game open for the Brewers. The Brewers scored five runs in the fifth inning all via small ball. The rookies played a big role in this inning as a group they had two singles, a walk, and an RBI single in the fifth inning. Jessie Winker and Willy Adames drove in a combined three runs as well.

Overall an excellent way to end the series for the Brewers. Let’s hope they can take this momentum into their home opener.
