Milwaukee Brewers media personnel Vinny Rottino recently joined The Mike Heller Show to discuss the Brew Crew’s hot start to the season. The Brewers have gotten off to a 7-2 start through their first nine games and are about to embark on a 10 game road trip in which they will play the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners.
Vinny Rottino will be joining the Brewers on their long road trip as Bill Schroeder, or “Rock”, will be traveling less this season. This will give Rottino the opportunity to call more games. He is a great resource to have for knowledge regarding the team and the ins/outs of the team.
Vinny Rottino discusses the Milwaukee Brewers hot start to the season.
During the interview, Vinny Rottino talked a lot about Milwaukee’s three “freshman” in Brice Turang, Joey Wiemer, and Garrrett Mitchell. He talks a lot about the maturity of these players and how they care about winning more than anything else.
An example Rottino uses is when Brice Turang hit his first career home run, a grand slam, one of his first comments afterwards was on how it helped improve the teams chance of winning. He also talks about Joey Wiemer and his impressive start to his MLB career that included a seven game hitting streak.
Other topics discussed include the bullpen. Joel Payamps, Gus Varland, and others are mentioned as Rottino gives his thoughts on these “no name guys”. He goes onto credit Craig Counsell and Chris Hook for continuously finding players, putting them in situations, and watching them perform.
