The Milwaukee Brewers are known for finding journeymen relief pitchers and having them put up career numbers for them, no matter how long or short their stint with the team may be. It was true when Craig Counsell was Milwaukee’s manager, and it remains true now that Pat Murphy is leading the Brewers.
This upcoming season, Milwaukee is hoping to get the most out of relatively unknown pitchers like Grant Wolfram, Connor Thomas, and Grant Anderson. Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs are turning to one former Brewers relief pitcher in hopes he can add to their own bullpen depth.
Former Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher Trevor Richards Signed with the Chicago Cubs
On Monday, it was reported that former Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Richards had signed a minor league deal with the Cubs:

Richards spent last season with the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins, posting a 2-2 record, 4.55 ERA, and 1.21 ERA. He also led the American League with 13 wild pitches.
Brewers fans may not remember Richards because he only appeared in 15 games for Milwaukee back in 2021. He had been acquired after the season started from the Tampa Bay Rays in the same deal that brought Willy Adames to the team.
But while Adames went on to become a fan favorite and one of the most beloved Brewers players in recent memory, Richards was traded again shortly afterwards for Rowdy Tellez.
That being said, his 3.20 ERA with Milwaukee is his best with any of the multiple teams he has played for. In his seven-year career, Richards has played for five teams and has a record of 24-28 with a 4.50 ERA.
