The Milwaukee Brewers have been navigating numerous injuries throughout the course of the young 2024 season. They have used 11 different starting pitchers this year, are without All-Star closer Devin Williams, and managed to overcome Christian Yelich missing time due to a back injury. In their most recent game against the Chicago Cubs their closer Trevor Megill was removed due to an injury.
Trevor Megill had been filling in nicely as a closer for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Manager Pat Murphy calls his bullpen “the firemen” and several of them have recorded saves this season. Lately it has been Trevor Megill getting the call more often than not. His eight saves are the most on the team in which Joel Payamps (4) and Abner Uribe (3) are the next closest.

In the 10th inning of a tie ball game the Brewers sent Trevor Megill to the mound. Unfortunately he was injured during his first batter faced as he took a 99.4 MPH line drive off his pitching elbow. He was unable to make a play on the ball, the run scored, and he was immediately removed from the game.

Who will close games for the Milwaukee Brewers if Trevor Megill has to miss time?
After Megill the next Brewer with the most saves is Joel Payamps. Payamps had a 5.54 ERA during the middle of May, but after six scoreless appearances that has lowered to 3.79. If Payamps doesn’t get the nod at closer it’s possible that Bryan Hudson gets an opportunity or that Abner Uribe gets promoted back to the big leagues.
