For quite some time now the Milwaukee Brewers have been unable to acquire a power bat at the trade deadline. Their deadline offensive additions over the past five seasons include Jonathan Schoop and Mike Moustakas in 2018 as well as Eduardo Escobar in 2021. They have reportedly been interested in other sluggers but those deals never came to fruition.
One frustrating aspect to this is that the Brewers have often felt one good bat away from putting themselves in a better position for a deep playoff run. According to Barstool Baseball, their 2023 squad has that vibe as well. In Barstool’s most recent podcast they suggested that Milwaukee target Colorado Rockies slugger C.J. Cron at the trade deadline.
Barstool Sports suggests that the Milwaukee Brewers target Colorado Rockies slugger C.J. Cron at the trade deadline.
Brewers fans have been down this road before with C.J. Cron. He’s been a near 30 home run and 100 RBI player over the past two seasons and was an All-Star in 2022. At the plate he is right-handed so he could platoon with Rowdy Tellez as well as see at-bats as the designated hitter.

This year C.J Cron is in the final year of his contract, so if the Rockies were going to trade him the 2023 deadline would make a ton of sense. That being said the biggest x-factor as to why he has not been traded to the Brewers or another team already is because at times nobody seems to know what Colorado is thinking and often times they do the opposite of what is expected.
It will be interesting to see if C.J. Cron is traded this year or not. He’s been a trade target for Milwaukee Brewers fans for several years now and perhaps this summer a deal will finally be made.
