In 2016 the Milwaukee Brewers drafted a third baseman out of Menlo, Menlo, CA with the 46th overall selection in the second round. The pick initially put together a few solid seasons in the minor leagues but eventually began to struggle once advancing to the higher levels.
In 2021 his offensive struggles ended up sparking a transition from position player to pitcher and 2022 was his first full season not hitting. Around this time he stopped drinking, has remained sober from alcohol, and has been real and honest regarding his prior struggles with it. This of course is in reference to Lucas Erceg.
Nowadays Lucas Erceg is a hard throwing relief pitcher. With the Brewers there was no clear path to the big leagues. That being said the organization has decided to part ways with him and a trade has been struck with the Oakland Athletics.

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Lucas Erceg has been traded to the Oakland Athletics.
In exchange for Lucas Erceg the Milwaukee Brewers will receive cash. Oakland will be receiving a hard throwing right-handed pitcher in return who has reached triple digits on occasion with his fastball. He had been pitching great in Triple-A this season but was tagged with six earned runs in a recent appearance that inflated his ERA. His season ERA is currently 6.46.
Lucas Erceg will join former Brewers Jace Peterson, Esteury Ruiz, and Jesus Aguilar who are current members of the Oakland Athletics. It’s possible that he could see big league playing time at some point with the Athletics.
