In November the Milwaukee Brewers acquired Javy Guerra from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for a player to be named later. That player ended up being Victor Castaneda. With the Brew Crew Guerra struggled by surrendering eight earned runs in eight appearances while also walking nine batters. He was recently DFA’d (designated for assignment) and now has been traded back to his 2022 team in the Rays.

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded reliever Javy Guerra back to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Currently the two teams have not established who Milwaukee will receive in return for Javy Guerra. It’s possible that the Brew Crew receives cash only in return. In order for the Rays to make room on their 40-man roster they designated right-handed pitcher Braden Bristo for assignment.
With Javy Guerra gone and Matt Bush being placed on the injured list, the Brewers have been diving into their pitching depth. Tyson Miller has recently joined the Brew Crew, Alex Claudio was up for a game, Elvis Peguero is with the team, and Jake Cousins was also recently promoted.
The Milwaukee Brewers will likely keep relying upon a large number of relievers throughout the season. There are a lot of intriguing arms to choose from, but they did not view Javy Guerra as a viable option given his performance to begin the year.
