The Brewers made a few significant trades in 2021. Most remember them acquiring Willy Adames in May during a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays. Another move that they made was acquiring Rowdy Tellez from the Toronto Blue Jays. In order to bring the left-handed slugger in they parted ways with pitchers Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis.
In Milwaukee Rowdy Tellez has gone on to be a fan favorite and a big contributor. For the Blue Jays Trevor Richards has had his ups and downs in the bullpen and Bowden Francis recently had his contract selected. He is now the favorite to replace struggling starting pitcher Alek Manoah.

Former Brewers pitching prospect Bowden Francis favorite to enter Blue Jays starting rotation.
Alek Manoah went from being an All-Star and third place Cy Young finisher last year to being extremely ineffective this year. Due to this the 25 year old has been optioned down. This has the Blue Jays in need of a starting pitcher to round out their rotation.
In particular Toronto has not announced a starting pitcher for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. Bowden Francis has a good chance to start on Saturday. He had been effective while in the Blue Jays Triple-A system, but spent the beginning part of this season on the injured list.
It’s unclear how deep into the game he could pitch if he gets the nod on Saturday. The Blue Jays will likely utilize a handful of pitchers to cover innings while Manoah looks to get back on track.
