Milwaukee Brewers rookie starting pitcher Tobias Myers has had his two best outings of the year over his last two appearances. The result has been back-to-back wins and him proofing that he deserves to continue to not only be in the big leagues but remain in the starting rotation. A few weeks ago that was all in question as he was optioned to Triple-A.
Tobias Myers has strung together back-to-back starts where he has looked mighty impressive.

Against the Detroit Tigers on June 7 Tobias Myers had the longest outing of a Brewers starting pitcher this year as he threw eight shutout innings on 100 pitches. He allowed just one hit during this outing, walked three, and struck out five. Most recently against the Blue Jays he tossed six innings of one run ball with three hits allowed on just 66 pitches. Ultimately a fresh bullpen and an off day afterwards led to him being pulled after the sixth inning.
“I could have left him in there, to be honest with you, but we had a pretty fresh bullpen and a day off tomorrow. So, I felt good about going with (Bryan) Hudson.”
-Manager Pat Murphy per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
An injury to Robert Gasser allowed the Milwaukee Brewers to recall Tobias Myers early from Triple-A.

On June 1 the Brewers optioned Tobias Myers to Triple-A. At that point in time he had a 5.40 ERA across six starts and he had failed to cover five innings on four occasions. He also had made one appearance out of the bullpen.
Typically teams are not able to recall pitchers for a minimum of 15 days after being optioned, but on June 5 Robert Gasser was placed on the injured list. This IL move legally allowed Milwaukee to call Myers back up despite 15 days not passing.
Tobias Myers reveals one adjustment he has made since being recalled from Triple-A.

Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic asked Tobais Myers about his pitch mix and if he was settling into a repertoire that was working for him. Stern specifically pointed out that since being recalled he had decreased his cutter usage and was throwing more four-seam fastballs. Myers acknowledged that this was by design and noted that the cutter was a relatively new pitch for him, so he has been getting back to what works.
Myers on the changes he’s made to his pitch mix the last two times out:
“When I first got up here, I used the cutter a lot… I think getting back to living off the heater and just trying to locate that as best I can and letting everything roll off of that, I think that’s where… https://t.co/qLWC6tlTot pic.twitter.com/It09a8UWzD

Assuming that Tobias Myers remains in the Brewers rotation he will next be slated to take the hill on the road against the Los Angeles Angels.
