The Milwaukee Brewers won their eighth game in a row and earned their third consecutive series sweep as they defeated the San Diego Padres at home on Sunday afternoon. Sunday’s finale was a wild game full of offense and featured a Manny Machado temper tantrum, but the Brew Crew came up victorious by a score of 10-6.
Milwaukee won this game despite starting pitcher Adrian Houser only going two innings. Bryse Wilson worked four innings in relief afterwards and eventually gave way to Abner Uribe. Rookie Abner Uribe had a wild outing, was relieved by Hoby Milner, and then Trevor MeGill recorded the final six outs. Of the five pitchers the consensus among Brewers players was that Bryse Wilson was the player of the game.
Bryse Wilson was awarded player of the game during the Milwaukee Brewers victory over the San Diego Padres.
Adrian Houser left this game in the second inning due to right elbow stiffness. He did take a tumble off of the mound after his cleat got stuck in the dirt, but he says that was unrelated to his elbow issue. At the time of his exit the Brewers were trailing by a score of 4-1 and Bryse Wilson was brought in to pitch in relief.
Bryse Wilson ended up going a season long four innings. He did not allow any runs and when his job was done the Brewers held a 9-4 lead. Wilson ended up getting credited with a win and earning player of the game honors from his teammate Rowdy Tellez.
Rowdy Tellez had one of the Brewers’ big hits but said there’s no doubt about the player of the game: Bryse Wilson, who delivered four innings after Adrian Houser went down.
Big, because Peguero, Payamps, Williams will all be well-rested for the start of the Cubs series. pic.twitter.com/iapNaadNEN

Because Bryse Wilson covered four innings high leverage relievers Elvis Peguero, Joel Payamps and Devin Williams were all able to get rest before an upcoming important series against the Chicago Cubs. An additional shout out goes to Hoby Milner who retired Juan Soto, Manny Machader, and Xander Bogaerts after Abner Uribe got into a jam a well as Trevor MeGill who got five batters out via the strikeout.
Throughout most of this season Bryse Wilson has been one of the unsung heroes out of the bullpen. His season ERA is down to 2.95 and he has a 6-0 record. Matt Arnold acquiring him from the Pittsburgh Pirates after he was designated for assignment in January has also been a very underrated trade. Hopefully he continues to do well and help the Brewers win games.
