The Milwaukee Brewers have been on the hunt for a new manager ever since Craig Counsell bolted for the Chicago Cubs. There have been a lot of names that have appeared during this search, and there is one name that has appeared recently on the managerial search.

Former St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt is the latest name to appear in the Milwaukee Brewers managerial search. Bob Nightengale of USA Today said about the updated Milwaukee Brewers managerial search:
“The Milwaukee Brewers, who are strongly considering promoting bench coach Pat Murphy, also have their eyes on Mike Shildt if he’s not hired by the San Diego Padres.”
Shildt has interviewed for the San Diego Padres managerial opening recently as well. San Diego hopes to hire a new manager sometime this week, and there will be even more clarity as to whether or not Shildt is the new Padres manager.
Jon Morosi of MLB Network said on his Twitter Account:
“Sources: Padres are expected to hire their new manager by the middle of this week. Mike Shildt, Ryan Flaherty, Benji Gil, and Phil Nevin are known to have interviewed. Additional candidates remain under consideration, as well.”
The Milwaukee Brewers Managerial Search Will Continue to Take Time

The Brewers appear to be in no rush to hire a new manager since Counsell left. Milwaukee wants to take their time with this. Mike Shildt would be a very interesting candidate for this baseball team if he was still available to them by the time the Padres hired someone. He is 55 years old and was the St. Louis Cardinals manager for four seasons.

Shildt had a 252-199 record and also managed the St. Louis Cardinals during the 2020 COVID-shortened season. Last season, he was with the San Diego Padres in a Senior Advisor to Player Development role. This would not be a hire that the Brewers fanbase would maybe get behind. However, it is another name thrown out there during this search to get people thinking about it. Will see what General Manager Matt Arnold decides to do.
