The Milwaukee Brewers are coming off a season that saw them finish the year with the best record in Major League Baseball at 97-65. It was the most wins by a Brewers team in any regular season in franchise history. Yet, despite having won the National League Central Division in each of the past three years, many do not believe Milwaukee will experience the same level of success in 2026.
Admittedly, the Brewers did have significant weaknesses in 2025, especially at the plate where they did not regularly hit home runs. That being said, they finished the year with the best run differential in MLB (+174) and scored the third-most runs in baseball (806).
As is the case every year, the team will use Spring Training to figure out how they can best address their weaknesses before the season begins. And manager Pat Murphy has identified what their top priority will be.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy is going to take a hard look at the starting rotation

One of the biggest question marks the team needs to address early and often in Spring Training is who will make up their starting rotation in 2026. Indeed, following the trade of ace Freddy Peralta to the New York Mets, many wonder what the Brewers’ rotation will look like.
The good news for Milwaukee is that they have plenty of young arms that they can call upon. The fact remains, though, that only five of them can be in the rotation at a time.
It is a conundrum that Murphy plans to spend a great deal of time solving:
“I think every team is mindful of their rotation, just because of the volatility of pitching injuries and the trends in baseball of how many pitchers are needed in a season. So I think that’s always a concern. Probably the number one concern.
“I think we’ll probably have to shore that up.”
As one can see, not only will Murphy spend a lot of time figuring out what pitchers he already has should be in the starting rotation, but he also wants the front office to go out and get him more depth.
Last year, the Brewers signed Jose Quintana late in Spring Training for some added depth. And while he is still a free agent, Milwaukee has not made any indication on whether or not they want to bring him back.
It will be interesting to see what, if any, veteran pitchers the Brewers look into before Spring Training starts in two weeks.
