The Milwaukee Brewers 2022 MiLB pitcher of the year Carlos Rodriguez is off to a tremendous start in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. Rodriguez began the year as the teams 12th ranked prospect, he impressed during the World Baseball Classic with Team Nicaragua, and now he is continuing to raise his prospect stock with a strong start to the 2023 season.
Through four starts, Carlos Rodriguez has thrown 17 innings and struck out 25 batters. He has allowed just four earned runs, which equates to a 2.12 ERA. His K:9 ratio is currently an impressive 13.24 and he is striking out 33.3% of the batters he has faced.
Carlos Rodriguez, Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect, is excelling in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers.
In his most recent start, Rodriguez punched out nine batters over five innings pitched. Nine strikeouts are not only a season best for him but it ties his career high as well. Last season he struck out nine batters on two different occasions with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Additionally in this outing he allowed just three hits and ended the game by retiring eight out of the last nine batters faced.
It has been just four starts, but it appears that Carlos Rodriguez is picking up right where he left off after a dominant 2022 season. If the 21 year old can continue to pitch well a promotion could be in line for him some time this season.
