The Milwaukee Brewers outfield currently has some slumping hitters as well as injured players. Christian Yelich is currently healthy, but Jesse Winker, Garrett Mitchell, and prospect Sal Frelick are all injured. At the plate near everyday players Joey Wiemer and Tyrone Taylor have been scuffling.
In the minor leagues top 19 year old prospect Jackson Chourio is unlikely to make a leap from Double-A to the big leagues. Tyler Naquin was just reinstated off the injured list and Monte Harrison was placed on the development list. Blake Perkins remains an option on the 40-man roster, but this combination of injuries and struggles has prompted the Brewers to add a 30 year old veteran outfielder to a minor league contract.
Roman Quinn has signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The former second round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies has played periodically in the big leagues from 2016-2022. All of his big league appearances have been with the Phillies. The Cleveland Guardians signed the switch hitter as a non-roster invitee over the winter and until recently he was playing in their farm system.
Overall Roman Quinn has appeared in 222 big league games and can play center field. He has hit well in the minor leagues but has just a .651 OPS over 535 major league at-bats. His calling card is his speed and defense.
According to Roman Quinn’s transaction tracker this signing was made official on May 24, 2023. He has already reported to Triple-A Nashville and is being used in game action. Only time will tell if the Brewers call his name or not.
