The Milwaukee Brewers are finally finished with a brutal stretch that saw them play 19 games in the span of just 18 days. During that span, they went 9-10 and saw their lead in the National League Central Division shrink from 8.0 to 5.5 games over the Chicago Cubs.
They also suffered serious blows to their bullpen, with numerous relief pitchers heading to the injured list with a plethora of ailments.
All-Star closer Trevor Megill is one of the pitchers currently on the injured list, suffering from a flexor strain. The good news, though, is that he could still be back at some point later this season or in the postseason, but trade deadline acquisition Shelby Miller will not be so lucky.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Shelby Miller is out for the year

Miller was acquired by the Brewers, along with injured pitcher Jordan Montgomery, ahead of the 2025 MLB trade deadline. At the time, Miller was rehabbing from an injury, but was able to make his Milwaukee debut short after.
Unfortunately, his tenure with the Brewers is not going to last long. During his last appearance, Miller felt his elbow pop on the last pitch he threw. He was taken out of the game and now faces the prospect of a second Tommy John surgery.
His season is over. Miller finishes his time in Milwaukee with a 1-0 record and 5.59 ERA in just 11 games.
On Wednesday, the Brewers placed Miller on the 60-day injured list and recalled Joel Payamps from Triple-A Nashville to take his spot.
Milwaukee Brewers fans are furious that Joel Payamps got called up

Payamps began the season on Milwaukee’s active roster, but quickly found himself down in Triple-A Nashville after sporting an 8.35 ERA through the first 23 games of the season.
And he has not exactly been great down in Nashville either, posting a 4.73 ERA in 27 games.
Needless to say, Brewers fans are not thrilled with the team’s decision:

As seen in the posts above, many fans wanted rookie Robert Gasser called up, who recently was reinstated to Nashville’s roster after spending the entire season on the injured list.
Gasser was 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA (five starts) for Milwaukee last season.
