The Milwaukee Brewers were able to salvage the final contest of their three-game home series against the Chicago Cubs. With ace Freddy Peralta dominating on the mound, the Brewers defeated one of the best teams in baseball 4-0. Indeed, it was a game of snapping cold streaks for some of Milwaukee’s most important contributors.
In particular, designated hitter Christian Yelich came into the contest with no hits in his last 19 at bats. Early in the game, he smoked a single that had a 108 mph exit speed of Chicago ace Shota Imanaga.
Unfortunately, neither team came out of the contest without someone suffering a worrisome injury.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfield Sal Frelick Left Early with a Knee Injury

Gold Glove right fielder Sal Frelick, as expected, has been one of the Brewers best defensive players this season. However, he has also gotten off to a surprisingly hot start at the plate. After adding 25 pounds of muscle during the offseason, Frelick entered Sunday’s game hitting .299/.383/.402 with a home run, nine RBI, and seven stolen bases.
Perhaps what has been the best surprise, though, is the fact that he is walking more and striking out less. Last season, Frelick struck out 78 times and walked just 39 times (in 145 games). This season, he has struck out 16 times and has drawn 13 walks.
On Sunday, the Gold Glove outfielder was 0-1 at the plate. Unfortunately, he only had one plate appearance because he injured his knee during his only at bat of the game.
The Brewers took him out and replaced him Daz Cameron, the son of former fan-favorite Mike Cameron, who played in Milwaukee from 2008-2009. The younger Cameron was 1-2 with an RBI and stolen base.
Milwaukee Brewers Right Fielder Sal Frelick Needs an MRI

After the game, manager Pat Murphy revealed that Frelick will be getting an MRI on his knee:
Sal Frelick is getting an MRI on his knee. Freddy Peralta doesn’t believe his groin issue is anything to worry about. He came out of the game after the sixth inning and effort to keep it that way.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) May 4, 2025
As one can see from Adam McCalvy’s post, Freddy Peralta also tweaked his groin, but Murphy did not think his injury was anything to worry about.
Frelick’s, however, is very concerning. Not only is he one of the Brewers best hitters this year, Milwaukee already has a plethora of injured outfielders, namely Garrett Mitchell (oblique) and Blake Perkins (leg).
Cameron was called up when Mitchell was put on the injured list. If Frelick needs to miss any extended time, the Brewers will have to dip even further into their Triple-A pool.
