The Milwaukee Brewers are 56-40 and set to begin the second half of the 2025 MLB season as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road this weekend. They currently are one game behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the National League Central Division, hold the top Wild Card spot in the NL, and have the third best record in the league.
And they have accomplished this despite starting the season 0-4.
They have also accomplished their sterling record without having a serious power hitter on the team. While Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio each could hit 30 or more home runs, the majority of their everyday players are young, fast, and do not typically hit for power. Instead, they score runs with savvy baserunning and timely hitting.
But a recent viral video of Ryan Braun has Brewers fans wishing he could come back out of retirement and give the offense a boost.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Want Ryan Braun Back After Watching Batting Practice Video

As stated, the Brewers are currently in Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers this weeks. The Los Angeles area, of course, is home to Ryan Braun, Milwaukee’s franchise leader in home runs (352). A six-time All-Star with the Brewers, Braun spent his entire 13-year career with the franchise, won an NL MVP Award, and is still one of the most beloved players among fans.
Later this month, Braun, Prince Fielder, and several other former players will come together at American Family Field in Milwaukee to put on a home run derby to help celebrate the team’s 25 years in the stadium.
As the Brewers are in his area, Braun stopped by before the game on Friday to take batting practice:

As one can see from the video, he still has the same beautiful swing and the ball absolutely rockets off of his bat. Despite the fact that he has been retired for nearly five years and is 41 years old, many fans responded to the video asking him to come back:
Get him a uniform right now and have him play short

Braun hit .233/.281/.488 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 39 games of the COVID-shortened 2020 season, which was the final year of his career. The year before that, though, in 2019, he hit .285/.343/.505 with 22 home runs and 75 RBI in 144 games.
