The Milwaukee Brewers, like all other Major League Baseball teams, are going to have to make some tough decisions as Spring Training goes on. Only 26 players can make the Opening Day roster, and given Milwaukee’s incredible pitching depth, there will be some Major League capable players that are left off. They will either be assigned to the minor leagues, if they have options remaining, or will be place on waivers/released.
Over the course of the offseason, the Brewers made a concentrated effort on adding left-handed pitchers. With Spring Training having started this week, their depth in this facet of their rotation is noteworthy.
Unfortunately, they will not be able to keep them all.
Milwaukee Brewers predicted to part ways with Rob Zastryzny

One left-handed reliever that has spent the last two years with the Brewers organization is Rob Zastryzny, who has a stellar 2.12 ERA in 35 appearances with Milwaukee during that time. Despite his consistency, though, JR Radcliffe does not believe Zastryzny will make the Opening Day roster:
“The Brewers sent two players to the (Kansas City) Royals in the offseason for (Angel) Zerpa, have gotten incredible mileage out of (Aaron) Ashby and (Jared) Koenig, and it’s hard to imagine a scenario where they’d send Hall (who could work as a starter or in relief) to the minors opening 2026.
“That makes for four left-handed relievers and leaves Zastryzny as a potential odd man out. Zastryzny is a rarity in Brewers camp as a player out of option years, meaning Milwaukee can’t send him to the minors without the risk of losing him, though they might be able to get him back after designating him for assignment.”
It is hard to see Milwaukee moving any of Koenig, Ashby, or Hall to the starting rotation given the depth already there and their success in the bullpen. All three of those pitchers, of course, are left-handed. And if the Brewers do indeed go forward with an eight-man bullpen, they would likely want five right-handed pitchers to join the aforementioned lefties.
As Radcliffe states, that would leave Zastryzny out. He has no minor league options left, so they would have to designate him for assignment. If he cleared waivers, they could then send him to Triple-A. However, there may be any number of teams interested in him should he become available.
