The Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to five games as they defeated the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 on Saturday evening. This game was a pitchers dual between Tobias Myers and Nick Martinez, but Rhys Hoskins came through for the Brew Crew with a go-ahead home run that also gave him a career best hit streak.

Both starting pitchers in Tobias Myers and Nick Martinez were outstanding in this contest. The Brewer got 7.1 scoreless innings from Myers in which he allowed just three hits and struck out nine. Martinez on the other hand threw 7.0 scoreless innings, allowed just one base hit, and struck out seven. Reds reliever Tony Santillan gave up the only run of the game and Brewers closer Devin Williams recorded his first save of the season.
Rhys Hoskins delivered a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning.
With two outs recorded in the eighth inning Rhys Hoskins broke up the tie game with a solo home run to left field. This marked his 20th home run of the season and is an impressive benchmark to hit after missing all of last season with a torn ACL.

Rhys Hoskins has a new career best hitting streak with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The home run that Rhys Hoskins hit in the eighth inning against the Reds extended his hitting streak to 14 games. This is a career best for him. During this stretch he is slashing .327/.362/.654 with five home runs and 11 RBI. Additionally his season batting average has risen from .212 to .231.
