The Milwaukee Brewers resumed regular season play following the 2025 MLB All-Star Break by picking up where they left off before the Midsummer Classic. As has been the case for much of the season, Milwaukee relied on stellar pitching to make up for a light-hitting offense in their 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The win was Milwaukee’s eighth in a row, though they picked up no ground on the Chicago Cubs, who are one game ahead of them in the National League Central Division, and also won on Friday night.
It did, however, move the Brewers to a half game back of the Dodgers for the second-best record in the National League, and, at 57-40, they own the fourth-best record in all Major League Baseball.
Milwaukee Brewers Rookie Quinn Priester Pitched a Gem Against the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Brewers were propelled to victory by the strong pitching performance of rookie Quinn Priester. He got the attention of viewers early, striking out Los Angeles stars Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman to leadoff their half of the first inning. It was the first time those three players ever all struck out to start a game.
Normally a groundball pitcher, Priester carved up Dodgers hitters all night, going six strong innings, allowing just three hits, no walks, no runs, and striking out 10.
The win improved Priester to 8-2 on the year and lowered his season ERA to an impressive 3.33.
While Jacob Misiorowski is now the favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award due to his incredible first five starts of the season, as well as the national attention that he gets, one cannot ignore the fact that Priester also has a strong case to win the award.
He has received the win in three of his last five appearances and continues to improve on his control. When Milwaukee gets Nestor Cortes back in a couple of weeks, it is hard to see them being willing to remove Priester from their starting rotation. Perhaps the team will look to trade Cortes, once healthy, so that they will not need to make such a tough decision.
