Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Jackson Chourio was a breakout player last season. He is currently 19 years old and as a teenager last season he worked his way up to Double-A in the Minor Leagues and also played in the Venezuelan Winter League. In a recent interview, GM Matt Arnold had high praise for the organization’s top overall prospect.
Matt Arnold answered questions with season ticket holders on Tuesday, and naturally Jackson Chourio was a topic that was brought up.
Milwaukee Brewers GM Matt Arnold has high praises for Jackson Chourio.
An interesting quote that Matt Arnold provided was on high much bigger and stronger Jackson Chourio has gotten. Arnold said, “We’re in a room here with our international scouts, and they’re like, ‘Man, he’s gotten bigger.’ He’s growing into being this monster, honestly.”
When asked about where Jackson Chourio may start the 2023 season, Arnold was non-committal but did indicate the following, “We’re still working through our roster construction in the Minor Leagues, and there are a lot of cascading effects that honestly trickle down from the Major Leagues. But I would probably say it’s likely that he starts in Double-A. Don’t hold me to that, because I know we’re still having real conversations with it. But he did get there last year at 18 years old”.
Might Jackson Chourio make an appearance with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023? According to Matt Arnold, don’t rule it out.
“He’s a very talented player. I don’t want to put any timetable on it; I don’t think that’s really fair to a 19-year-old kid. But I will say that if he’s playing well, Craig is going to be pulling on me, and we’re going to be pulling on [Chourio], frankly — to see what he can do in Milwaukee.”
In spring training so far, Jackson Chourio has opened the eyes of many. He is checking all the necessary boxes, so a MLB debut in 2023 is not out of the question.
