Milwaukee Brewers infielder Brice Turang was the National League’s best defender in 2024 as he won a platinum glove award as a second baseman. Despite his excellence at the position, there has been talk about him potentially moving to shortstop in 2025. Recently, manager Pat Murphy went on Foul Territory TV to discuss who may take Willy Adames’ spot in the infield next year.
Pat Murphy is leaning towards Brice Turang staying put at second base in 2025
On Foul Territory TV, former Brewers catcher Erik Kratz asked Pat Murphy for his thoughts on whether or not Brice Turang has matured enough to make a significant transition in his game (move from second base to shortstop). Pat Murphy said that, “There is nothing that says he (Brice Turang) can’t do it. We have another young man in Joey Ortiz that is very capable also. The decision will be one or the other. My tendency is to leave Brice alone because he is as special as you will see at second base.”
If the Brewers can’t re-sign Willy Adames, could Brice Turang slide in at shortstop?

Pat Murphy discusses the odds of Willy Adames returning to the Milwaukee Brewers
Another question that Pat Murphy was asked was, “How bad do you want Willy Adames back?” In summary Murphy responded by talking about Adames’ leadership, his willingness to play every day, and that he is a gamer. Murphy said that he doesn’t think about it much because the only way Adames would come back is if he doesn’t get the deal that he wants and Murphy does not foresee that happening.
