Recently, it was reported that Milwaukee Brewers 2025 first round pick Andrew Fischer was named the best third base prospect in all of baseball. And while the hype around Fischer is real, Milwaukee is currently set at the third base position with Caleb Durbin, who had a solid rookie season with the Brewers in 2025.
Indeed, Durbin quickly became a fan favorite in Milwaukee following his acquisition from the New York Yankees that sent All-Star closer Devin Williams out of town. He .256/.334/.387 with 11 home runs, 53 RBI, and 18 stolen bases in 2025 while emerging as the everyday starter at third.
Indeed, he is also a favorite of manager Pat Murphy, who had some fun with his young infielder during a speaking engagement in Green Bay this week.

Durbin is currently in Wisconsin due to an event he participated in with the Fon du Lac Dock Spiders, a Northwoods League team with whom he played a few years ago. Meanwhile, Murphy has been touring the state doing various speaking engagements in front of fans.
During his event in Green Bay, Murphy face-timed Durbin in front of the audience and had a little fun with his third baseman:

“Hey Durbs, I gotta ask you something, man. There’s some people that wanna know some things, man. They wanna know, like, I told them you were four-foot-eleven. Can you figure that out?”
Durbin could be heard saying, “I mean, yeah, no you’re right,” which drew a laugh from the crowd.
“I also told them that I tell you to go up and get hit by a pitch and you just say, ‘Okay,'” Murphy continued. “I also told them that when ground balls [get] hit [to] you, I never have to worry about it going through your legs, because if it does, it will just hit you in the cup.”
Durbin is actually five-foot-seven, but is considered short for a Major League Baseball player. His 24 times being hit by a pitch led the National League.
