Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers is currently near the top or at the top of multiple prospect ranking boards. He had a breakout season at the age of 18 in 2022 and is again meeting expectations in Double-A this year.
To start the 2023 MiLB season Jackson Chourio is delivering both offensively and defensively. At the plate he is going against pitchers who have the benefit of pre tacked/sticky baseballs but is still slashing .260/.314/.428 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. He additionally has hit two walk off home runs and has taken top pitching prospects Eury Perez and Ben Joyce deep.
One thing the Milwaukee Brewers are doing this year in order for fans to get to know their top prospects better is a video series titled “The Freshman”. So far Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick, Brice Turang, and Joey Wiemer have all made appearances. Most recently they released a segment featuring Jackson Chourio.
Jackson Chourio debuts on the Milwaukee Brewers video series “The Freshman”.
When Jackson Chourio was asked about being the top prospects in baseball he responded, “It feels amazing being number one. Basically I can help my family and my brother. It was always my dream to be here, so when I was announced top prospect my whole family felt very proud. I feel super grateful for being part of a team that treats me so well and makes me feel confident.”
In the quote Chourio references his brother, who is currently a top 30 prospect in the Cleveland Guardians organization. It’s possible that two Chourio’s are in the big leagues someday. For now the Brewers Chourio will continue to grow and develop, but the sky is the limit for this 19 year old phenom out of Venezuela.
