There has been a great deal written regarding the Milwaukee Brewers and their search for a multi-year starter at first base. After Prince Fielder left Milwaukee following the 2011 season, the Brewers had 11 different Opening Day starters at the position in each of the following 11 seasons. It was not until Rowdy Tellez in 2022 and 2023 that Milwaukee had the same Opening Day first baseman in consecutive years since Fielder.

But what has gone largely overlooked by many is that over the last six years, the Brewers have lacked consistency at third base too. Indeed, over the last six seasons, Milwaukee has had six different Opening Day third basemen.

And while Caleb Durbin emerged in 2025 as a player that the Brewers may be able to count on to be their everyday third baseman, it took literal years for Milwaukee to find a player on whom they could rely on a regular basis.

One of the players that the Brewers used at third base in recent seasons was Oliver Dunn. Unfortunately, the light-hitting left-handed hitter was never able to put together enough consistency at the plate to stick with the Major League team.

In 55 games over two seasons, he hit just .206/.261/.290 with a home run and 13 RBI.

After the 2025 season, Dunn became a free agent, and he has signed a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox for 2026:

3B Oliver Dunn has agreed to a minor league deal with the White Sox, sources tell @JustBB_Media.

The 28-year-old played in 55 MLB games with Milwaukee across past two seasons and posted a .653 OPS at AAA in 2025.

It will be interesting to see how Dunn performs for the White Sox in Spring Training, and what level of professional ball he will play. In 110 games for Triple-A Nashville last season, he hit just .208/.315/.338 with eight home runs, 43 RBI, and 25 stolen bases.
