Following Sunday’s exciting win over the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters that Garrett Mitchell will be joining the team in Colorado as they venture off on a seven-game road trip.
Milwaukee Brewers activate Garrett Mitchell after three-month injury stint.

In response to the team activating Mitchell, rookie infielder Tyler Black is being optioned to Triple-A Nashville.
Mitchell hasn’t been on the major league roster since Spring Training when he suffered a fractured left finger. He started a rehab assignment with the ACL Brewers on June 10, and then joined the Nashville Sounds on June 13. In a game on the 26th, Mitchell had quite the scare when he had suffered an apparent hamstring injury and left the game. The center fielder was fine, and returned to play two more games before getting his call-up.

In 14 games with Triple-A, Mitchell hit .314 with four home runs, four stolen bases, 13 driven in, and an OPS of .998. Will he bring that same energy to the majors?
Injuries are a concern as Garrett Mitchell makes return
Garrett Mitchell hasn’t always been lucky when it comes to staying healthy. Ever since he was drafted in the first round of the 2020 MLB draft, Mitchell just couldn’t seem to catch a break.
In 2021, he suffered a muscle strain in his knee. He then missed two months in 2022 with an oblique injury, and then in May 2023, underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum. With him fracturing his finger and being out for that long because of said injury, all to come back and then injure his hamstring, the concern of Mitchell staying healthy is definitely up there.
Where does Garrett Mitchell fit in the crowded outfield?

In his absence, other players have been stepping it up and making themselves a competitive and dominant force to be reckoned with. With an outfield that has Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Blake Perkins and Jackson Chourio smashing balls, trying to fit Mitchell into that puzzle will be a bit of a struggle.
It’s likely that he’ll probably compete with Perkins to see who will be that fourth outfielder, but he also will have to find a spot in the lineup potentially as a DH, taking some away from Jake Bauers when he’s not playing 1B.
