The Milwaukee Brewers opened up a 13 game stretch on Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants. William Contreras, Willy Adames, and Garrett Mitchell drove in all the runs, Aaron Civale delivered another nice start, Jackson Chourio played some great defense, and the bullpen that was anchored by Devin Williams successfully closed the game out.
Early offense was crucial in the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
In the first inning the Brewers scored two runs off four hits. Jackson Chourio doubled on the first pitch of the game, William Contreras drove him home, Jake Bauer singled, and then Willy Adames recorded 102nd RBI of the year with a single (tagged out trying to stretch it into a double). San Francisco countered with a run of their own in the first inning, but a Garrett Mitchell solo home run in the sixth inning made it a 3-1 ball game.
The Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff allowed just four hits all game.
Aside from the Giants scoring a run in the first inning (leadoff walk followed by a two out RBI double) the only other time San Francisco scored in this game was off a Mike Yastrzemski solo home run in the sixth inning. Starting pitcher Aaron Civale gave up both runs in this game as well as three hits. After him DL Hall, Trevor Megill, and Devin Williams all had scoreless outings. The Giants only other hit came off Williams in the ninth in which he left the runner stranded in scoring position to end the game and notch his 10th save of the game.
Jackson Chourio had some nice defensive plays in this game.
With the wind swirling in Oracle Park fly balls were all over the place in this game. Jackson Chourio had some adventurous routes in left field in which early on in this game he made a behind the head grab at the wall as he was running towards foul territory but the wind pushed the ball back fair. In the eighth inning he also made a play that brought him into the netting in foul territory in which he held on for the catch.
Jackson Chourio tumbled into the netting after an inning-ending catch in the eighth and his teammates ran out to left field to make sure he was OK. He emerged with a smile and a 3-2 Brewers lead heading to the ninth. pic.twitter.com/BpXJ8uHpRc

This Brewers victory dropped their magic number down to nine. In Los Angeles the Chicago Cubs scored five runs late in the game to win their second consecutive game against the Dodgers. Any combination equally nine Brewers wins and Cubs losses will result in Milwaukee clinching the National League Division title.
