The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers will begin a critical four games series starting Monday, August 12. This series will be played at American Family Field and will feature two of the best National League teams. Here are two major things at stake regarding this series.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers series preview, game times, and probable starting pitchers.
Entering this series the Brewers just had a five game winning streak snapped and their offense had been red hot over the last week. The Dodgers are coming off of a much needed sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Milwaukee is entering this series with 67 wins on the season and Los Angeles 69.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s game times are all scheduled for 7:10 PM CT and Thursday 1:10 PM CT. Tuesday’s game will air on TBS and Wednesday’s MLB Network. Milwaukee shuffled their starting rotation around and in this order will deploy Freddy Peralta, Colin Rea, Frankie Montas, and Tobias Myers. Los Angeles will have Clayton Kershaw followed by Gavin Stone. The Dodgers could deploy Jake Flaherty on Wednesday, but the last two games are listed as to be determined.
The Brewers and Dodgers are both currently competing for a first round bye in the playoffs.
If the post season started today the Dodgers would be the #2 seed and get a bye into the Divisional Series whereas the Brewers would be the #3 seed and have to play in the best of three Wild Card Series. The Phillies currently have the #1 seed but like the Dodgers they also have 69 wins. A tight race for the #1-#3 seeds is expected down the stretch but this series between the Brewers and Dodgers will carry a little extra weight because it is the last time these two teams will see each other in the regular season.
Playoff seeding tie-breakers are at stake in this Brewers vs Dodgers series.
Early in July the Brewers and Dodgers met for a three game series. Los Angeles won two out of three games. As mentioned this will be their final regular season match up so therefore the season series is on the line. This is important because should Milwaukee and Los Angeles finish with the same regular season record the tie breaker to determine playoff seeding is head-to-head record. The Brewers will have to win three out of four games against the Dodgers in order to win the season series and hold the tie breaker advantage.
