After the Milwaukee Brewers saw Willy Adames sign a seven-year $182 million contract with the San Francisco Giants, many wondered which player the team would choose to replace him. Obviously, it is not small task replacing a bat that hit .251/.332/.462 with team-leading 32 home runs and 112 RBI (not to mention 21 stolen bases). However, they also needed to replace him defensively.
Going into Spring Training, many believed that Joey Ortiz would move over from third base to play shortstop. However, Gold Glove second baseman Brice Turang also was given a look at the position, and apparently was very impressive.
So impressive, in fact, that the Brewers decided to move Turang to shortstop, Ortiz to second base, and have Oliver Dunn work with others on a platoon at third base.
Milwaukee Brewers Infielder Brice Turang Hurt His Shoulder

That is, they decided on that infield realignment before what happened over the weekend. On Sunday, Turang was scratched from the lineup due to shoulder soreness. While he was medically cleared to play, manager Pat Murphy wanted to be cautious.
And it is a good thing he was.
According to Adam McCalvy, Turang tried to throw from shortstop today and, well, it wasn’t good. He had to get an MRI to see if their was any structural damager to his shoulder.
Fortunately, there was not. However, he will be shut down for the next 3-5 days. A stint on the injured list does not seem likely.
Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel states, though, that this development almost assuredly means Turang will stay at second base this year:
The fallout of this is Joey Ortiz is the shortstop. The throw from shortstop plus the soreness almost certainly means Turang will start as the second baseman. https://t.co/44gePML8hI

Dunn and company will still platoon third base, presumably.
The decision to keep Turang at second base is not just what is best for his health, but he is already a proven Gold Glove winner at that position. Ortiz, meanwhile, came up through the Baltimore Orioles organization as a shortstop, only moving to third base last year because Adames was entrenched at the position for Milwaukee.
