The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets have been two of the most talked about teams in Major League Baseball over the course of the last several days. That, of course, is because of the trade between the two teams that sent two-time All-Star Freddy Peralta to New York. Tobias Myers, a promising young pitcher, was also included in the deal.
In return, the Brewers received prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat, both of whom are among the top 100 minor league players in all baseball.
Of course, Milwaukee and New York share an interesting bond with former Brewers President of Baseball Operations David Stearns now in the same role for the Mets. And now, one of Milwaukee’s former pitchers has joined the organization as a coach.
Former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson is now a coach in the New York Mets organization

According to a social media post by the Saint Lucie Mets, the organization’s Single-A minor league affiliate, former Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson is joining their staff as an assistant pitching coach:

Nelson spent most of his seven-year MLB career with the Brewers, but saw his pitching days derailed by a severe shoulder injury he suffered while sliding back into first base (pre-DH days).
His best year as a starting pitcher came in 2017 when he was 12-6 with a 3.49 ERA in 29 starts.
After leaving Milwaukee, Nelson spent one year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where was 1-2 with a 1.86 ERA in 28 games (one start).
He was 34-48 with a 4.12 ERA in his career.
