Milwaukee Brewers prospect Jesus Made drew a lot of attention for his performance in the Dominican Summer League last year. The 17 year old switch hitter posted a 1.051 OPS over 51 games while also stealing 28 bases. He ascended up to the organization’s second ranked prospect and could be on the Jackson Chourio path to the big leagues.
As high as the organization, scouts, and fans are on Made, one senior baseball writer at The Athletic recently gave an honest and humbling assessment of where he thinks Made is at currently.
Kieth Law gave an honest assessment of Milwaukee Brewers prospect Jesus Made

Formerly of ESPN, ESPN Scouts, Baseball Prospectus, and the Toronto Blue Jays front office, current senior writer for The Athletic Kieth Law recently gave an honest assessment of Jesus Made. This take came after the Spring Breakout series.
“Based on two games of seeing Made against good pitching, my gut reaction is that he’s not ready to go out to low A yet. He won’t turn 18 until May and hasn’t played outside of the DSL yet either.
There’s no reason he can’t start out in extended spring training and go to the Arizona Complex League for at least a few weeks, even with his tremendous showing in the DSL last summer and the attendant hype that has followed. I don’t know what the Brewers’ plans are for him; I’m just hoping they take it slow.”
What did the Brewers do with Jackson Chourio when he was in this situation?

Looking back to 2022, Chourio didn’t debut in Low-A until May, which was a month into the regular season. He then spent 62 games in Carolina, 31 in High-A Wisconsin, and six games in Double-A to end the year.
Based on that timeline, Law’s proposition that Made should start the year in extended spring training, or the ACL, would actually track what the Brewers did with Chourio. It’s a hard concept to grasp given the attention that Made is receiving, but it’s important to know that we may not see him in minor league game action right away.
