The Milwaukee Brewers will use Jared Koenig as their starting pitcher for the second consecutive game.  He served as the opener during Fridays game against the Boston Red Sox and will operate in the same role on Saturday.  As a result, he will join Zack Greinke in the franchise record books.

Jared Koenig served as the Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher on Friday against the Boston Red Sox.

On Friday, Bryse Wilson was scratched from being the Brewers starting pitcher and Jared Koenig replaced him.  Manager Pat Murphy did this due to the challenge that the Red Sox top of the order left handed hitters possess.  Koenig ended up getting into a slight jam and only recorded the first two outs before being replaced by Wilson.

The Brewers have announced that Jared Koenig will serve as the opener for the second consecutive game against the Red Sox.  Colin Rea is slated to follow after him.  The strategy ultimately paid off the night before so it makes sense for Milwaukee to try it again.

The only other pitcher to start consecutive games in the history of the Milwaukee Brewers is Zack Greinke.

• According to Mike Vassallo the only other pitcher to start to consecutive games for the Brewers is Zack Greinke.  He did this in 2012 when he started three consecutive games.  A first inning ejection on 7/7/2012 led to Greinke starting again on 7/8/2012.  He then started the first game after the All-Star break on 7/13/2012.
