The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Oakland Athletics on Saturday afternoon by a score of 9-5. A night prior the Brew Crew won by a score of 11-3. A pesky offense that does not give up on at-bats has resulted in Milwaukee putting up big run totals in each game.
Jake Bauers scores three runs against the Oakland Athletics and has a perfect quote about the team’s offensive approach.
This year Jake Bauers is not typically in the starting lineup for the Brewers, but he has bought into the brand of baseball Milwaukee plays. Against the Athletics on Saturday he went 1-3 (home run), walked twice, and scored three times. He also displayed good base running skills as he scored from first base in the eighth inning off a Garrett Mitchell bloop single into left-field.
Post game Jake Bauers said, “We have a lot of guys here who are committed to playing the right way. When you do that you put yourself in situations to score extra runs, to get insurance runs when you need them. That’s been the mindset all year.” Bauers individual performance definitely was a reflection of that quote but also in total the Brewers hit seven singles in this game and drew seven walks en route to putting up nine runs.
The Milwaukee Brewers currently have a 12 game interleague winning streak.
This year the Brewers have a MLB best 31-14 record in interleague play that now includes a 12 game winning streak. Over there last 24 interleague games they have a 20-4 record. This series against the Oakland Athletics is their final interleague series of the year as they play all National League teams the remainder of the schedule.
