The Milwaukee Brewers farm system is once again loaded with exciting talent.  Catcher Jeferson Quero is the top ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, Cooper Pratt emerged as a star last season, Jacob Misiorowski and Craig Yoho are steps away from the big leagues, and Jesus Made has been tagged as a player that could follow in Jackson Chourio’s footsteps.  Among all this talent, Jadher Areinamo is one player who is getting some much needed off-season attention for his excellence on the field over the past few seasons.

Jadher Areinamo has a unique skill set

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ Jadher Areinamo (2) drives in three runs against the West Michigan Whitecaps Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. The Timber Rattlers won 4-0.

2021 international signee Jadher Areinamo has a rare set of skills at the plate.  His ability to strikeout has decreased from low to lower over each of the past three seasons (14.4% to 12.4% to 11.1%) while he’s maintained an ability to hit for a high batting average (.288 in 2022, .306 in 2023, and .301 in 2024).

Over the years, his ability to draw free passes, slug the ball, and steal bases have improved.  In 2023 he walked in just 4% of at-bats (17 walks in 103 games), but a season ago that increased to 7.1% (33 walks in 110 games).  He also managed to slug over .400 for a second consecutive season (.407 in 2023 and .442 in 2024) while stealing a career high 32 bases last year.

    Why a perfectionist?

He’s the ONLY player 21 or younger with a SwStr% below 10%, a BA above .300 and a SLG% over .400. William Bergolla is the only player fitting the first two categories, but has a SLG% of .368.

An exclusive interview with Jadher Areinamo

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ Jadher Areinamo (2) throws to first base against the Cedar Rapids Kernels during their baseball game Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wisconsin.

On X, the handle @LouisAnalysis posted transcripts of an interview that they had with Areinamo.  In the interview his responses displayed maturity while also opening up on the struggles of moving to the United States.  It’s clear the 21 year old has a good head on his shoulders as his response to when he was asked about the responsibility of being a professional athlete he said, “it’s a responsibility to myself and the people that believe in me and you must be prepared to face that responsibility.”

What is in store for Jadher Areinamo in 2025?

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ Jadher Areinamo (2) fields an infield hit against the Cedar Rapids Kernels during their baseball game Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wisconsin.

Last year Areinamo spent the full season in Single-A with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.  His performance likely will earn him a promotion to Double-A in 2025.  What happens after that will be up to him, but it’s clear that he has the skill set to succeed.
