On Thursday night, the Milwaukee Brewers sent their number one pitching prospect (the fourth overall prospect in their system and 68th overall on MLB’s top-100) Jacob Misiorowski to the mound to make his Major League debut. His first career start in the Majors was much anticipated and, fortunately for fans, he did not disappoint.

Misiorowski’s first pitch of his Major League career was a 100 mile per hour fastball. His second was clocked at 102 miles per hour, the fastest pitch in franchise history.

All told, he pitched five innings of no hit ball, walking four and striking out five. While he did come out for the sixth inning, however, he was unable to make it through the first at bat of the frame.

On Saturday, Misiorowski was a guest on MLB Tonight where he was asked about his first Major League start as well as the ankle/leg injury that caused him to be removed from the game.

“I was really amped up. I, uh, tried to slow myself down and breathe a little, but it came out like I was hoping.”

Misiorowski also revealed that the reason he twisted his ankle was because his calf cramped up. He planted his foot in an attempt to release the cramp, but ended up rolling the ankle, which led Milwaukee to take him out of the game.

When asked how he slept the night before, he said, “Nothing. Nothing at all.”

As mentioned, Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings while walking four and striking out five. Despite the ankle roll, he is scheduled to make his next start, which will be on Wednesday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
