The Milwaukee Brewers top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski was recently promoted to Triple-A. Following his promotion big league manager Pat Murphy revealed what the plans are for him for the remainder of the 2024 season. This includes a potential late season call up to the Major Leagues.
The Milwaukee Brewers have a strategic plan for Jacob Misiorowski following a promotion to Triple-A.

Jacob Misiorowski accumulated 79.2 innings pitched this year across 19 Double-A starts. During this time he struck out 105 batters and held opponents to a .182 batting average against. A season ago Misiorowski similarly dominated in the minor leagues but had his season cut short after 71.1 innings pitched due to shoulder fatigue. Following his Triple-A promotion the Brewers plan to minimize that risk from happening again is to have him work shorter outings while preparing for a potential late season call up.
Now that he’s a step away from the Majors, Jacob Misiorowski may work some shorter outings, Pat Murphy said. Would have the dual effect of controlling his innings and preparing him for a potential late-season call-up to the ‘pen.

What role would Jacob Misiorowski have on the Milwaukee Brewers this year if he is promoted to the big leagues?

Pitchers that can provide length was an area of need for Milwaukee prior to the July 30 trade deadline. They added Aaron Civale early in July, Frankie Montas a day before the deadline, and are getting Joe Ross back from injury. They didn’t acquire a pitcher who can slot in as their ace, but should Misiorowski get a late season call up he would have the ability to either start or come out of the bullpen and provide multiple innings of coverage.
How likely is it that Jacob Misiorowski receives a late season promotion?

Before Misiorowski was shut down in 2023 there was some speculation that he could be called up for the Brewers post-season run. A year later that is even more true. The Brewers wouldn’t be worried about controlling his innings if they weren’t serious about potentially calling him up.
