The Milwaukee Brewers are always one of the most interesting teams to watch leading up to the MLB trade deadline. Due to the fact that they rarely sign their most talented players ahead of free agency due to their unwillingness to spend big money, there is oftentimes a player or two on their roster named as a potential trade target for other MLB teams.
Additionally, however, Milwaukee has consistently been in the thick of the postseason race over the past several years, meaning that they also often look to add cost-friendly talent to help them get over the hump.
This year, however, may be a little different.
MLB Analyst Believes Jackson Chourio Improving Is All the Milwaukee Brewers Need

While Freddy Peralta has been named as a possible name the Brewers could move at the trade deadline should they fall out of serious contention, and while Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon has been named as a possible trade target for Milwaukee, one MLB analyst believes the key to the Brewers deadline will be Jackson Chourio.
Of course, as Milwaukee has the young 21-year-old outfielder locked up for the better part of the next decade, there is no way the Brewers are looking to trade him. However, if the team is to compete for a spot in the postseason, they will need him to heat up like he did last summer after a slow start to his rookie campaign.
Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report recently wrote:
“Remember when the Brewers got their butts handed to them amid an 0-4 start to the year? Even if you do, you probably have an inkling that was a long time ago.
“It was indeed, yet the Brewers still need to walk a fine line in relation to the deadline. It’s hard to imagine them going all-in, both on account of their deficit to the Cubs and on that of their limited resources.
“What they surely need is more offense, but one thing that worked in 2024 could work again in 2025: Waiting for Jackson Chourio to get hot.”
Chourio currently is hitting .258/.282/.452 with 12 home runs, 43 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. However, he has also struck out 68 times in 73 games while walking just 10 times.
Indeed, Chourio is one of the brightest young stars in baseball and is a consensus pick to be a multi-time All-Star. He is, though, still very young and some of the decisions he makes at the plate prove that he has a lot of growing left to do.
That being said, he helped carry Milwaukee’s offense last summer after his bumpy start. In the first half of 2024, he hit .243/.294/.384 with nine home runs and 35 RBI. In the second half, though, Chourio hit .310/.363/.552 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI.
If he has another second half surge in 2025, it would go a long way to help solve Milwaukee’s offensive woes.
