    Milwaukee Brewers 19 year old prospect Jackson Chourio has been in baseball headlines after inking a historic contract extension.  His eight year, $82 million deal is the largest that any player has received prior to making their MLB debut.

    This winter the outfielder had been participating in the Venezuelan Winter League.  Across 17 games he slashed .379/.453/.530 with one home run, five doubles, and six runs batted in.  On top of that he was selected to participate in the Pepsi home run derby against some elite competition.

    Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Jackson Chourio competed against Ronald Acuna Jr of the Atlanta Braves in a home run derby in Venezuela.  

     

    12 players participated in the home run derby in Venezuela.  Here were all of the first round match ups that includes Jackson Chourio matching up against 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.

    Jackson Chourio ended up hitting four home runs in the first round.  Unfortunately this was not enough to advance past the reigning 2022 champion Ronald Acuna Jr.

    Ronald Acuna Jr ended up surpassing Jackson Chourio with five home runs.  Acuna Jr ended up repeating as the champion as he defeated Yasiel Puig in the championship round.
