The Milwaukee Brewers started their Friday off by winning game one of a double header in extra innings against the Cincinnati Reds. On this near 100 degree day there was plenty of action including home runs, home run robberies, runners making outs on the bases, and an injury scare to the game’s youngest star.
Willy Adames and William Contreras hit home runs against the Cincinnati Reds.
Early on in this game the baseball was carrying at the Great American Ballpark. Willy Adames tied the game in the second inning with his 25th home run of the season. This long ball marked his third season of hitting at least 25 home runs. William Contreras mashed his 19th home run of the season in the fourth inning and is now one long ball short of tying his career best set in 2022.
Home run robberies and outs on the bases from both teams.
Included in the highlights from this game was a home run saving catch by Reds outfielder TJ Friedl. He made this lead saving catch in the third inning and it came just one pitch after crashing hard into the wall while attempting to catch what ended up being a double by Jackson Chourio.

Also worth mentioning is the amount of outs made on the bases in this game. Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins, and Elly De La Cruz were all caught stealing in this game. Chourio and De La Cruz were thrown out at second base whereas Perkins was picked off. Additionally catcher William Contreras back picked Reds Rece Hinds at first base for an out.
Milwaukee Brewers rookie of the year candidate Jackson Chourio injured his ankle.
In the fifth inning Jackson Chourio hit a ground ball to Elly De La Cruz. It was tough defensive play and the call at first base was bang-bang (out), but Chourio ended up rolling his ankle on the bag. He was helped to the dugout by Brewers personnel and was seen gaining confidence in his weight bearing as he slowly made his way to the dugout. Chourio ended up remaining in the game.
